How Do You Handle a Ghost is an ongoing enquiry into forms of exchange between moving image and the choreographic. This publication emerges from encounters between people with choreographic or cinematographic practices. Each encounter started from the open question "How Do You Handle a Ghost?"

Three encounters took place during the summer of 2025 between (1) artist / filmmaker Beatrice Gibson, dramaturg / performer Jeroen Peeters and musical artist Saint Abdullah, (2) artist / filmmaker Maeve Brennan and performer / dance artist A. Livingstone, (3) wildlife camerawoman Sophie Darlington and performer / visual artist Nissa Nishikawa. The encounters took place in a studio / rehearsal space in Goldsmiths and lasted around three hours. They were witnessed by Edgar Schmitz and Tuur Van Balen and an audio recording was made. From the transcripts, five directions emerged:

  • sampling - hospitality
    • knockoff
      • shadow - blind spot
        • handling
          • temporalities (non-human)

Graphic designer Jisoo Koo worked with the transcripts to create this publication.
